Zero-downtime ELK Stack upgrade
Production logging ran on Kibana 8.11.1 and engineers could not see production events as they happened.
- Upgraded the ELK Stack from Kibana 8.11.1 to 9.2.1 with no downtime.
- Integrated Azure Event Hub into the log ingestion pipeline.
Result: real-time monitoring of production events, and written appreciation from the product team.

CI/CD and infrastructure as code
Releases across development, staging and production needed to be consistent and repeatable.
- Azure DevOps multi-stage YAML pipelines with Octopus Deploy for releases.
- Reusable Terraform and Terragrunt modules, with remote state in Azure Blob Storage.
- Microservices on AKS with Helm, Azure Container Registry, Ingress, HPA autoscaling and Secrets.
Result: 40+ zero-downtime deployments, 99.9% availability, no configuration drift across 3 environments, and about 60% faster builds.

Azure cost optimization
Cloud spend had grown with resources nobody was using at full capacity.
- Analyzed usage telemetry to find underused resources.
- Decommissioned what was idle and right-sized virtual machines and storage tiers.
Result: approximately $5,000 saved in Azure spend.

Azure infrastructure automation
Automated provisioning and deployment of a web application stack (App Service, Storage, Azure SQL) that had been configured by hand in the portal.
- Declarative ARM templates for every resource.
- Azure DevOps CI/CD pipelines integrated with GitHub, with Azure Monitor instrumentation.
Result: one repeatable deployment across dev, test and production.

Equipment tracking system
Equipment tracking and maintenance logs were kept manually.
- Built a Python (Flask) and MySQL application for tracking and maintenance logging.
- Added Twilio SMS alerts and optimized the SQL queries behind reporting.
Result: 70% less manual effort and 40% faster reporting.
